Next gen iPhone could appear in Best Buy USA in October

Those of you in the USA may know about best buy. Possibly one of the biggest retail stores in the USA for tech. However, it seems that documents and staff leak point to an early october release of Apple’s next iPhone. This best buy employee has said that they would be installing some Apple-related fixtures at 6AM on october 5th 2011. We know that Apple is overdue for releasing the next iPhone. What we don’t know, is whether it will be the iPhone 5, the iPhone 4S or both of these at the same time.

On a sidenote, it seems that October could the month for smartphone releases. This is because Google could be releasing the next version of it’s Android operating system, Ice Cream Sandwich. Additionally, Microsoft may also be releasing an update for Windows Phone 7.

IFA 2011 Samsung Announcement Roundup

Today, it was Samsung’s turn to take the limelight at the annual IFA expo. IFA is the world’s larget show for consumer electronics and home appliances and Samsung had a press event where they announced some new products.

Let’s start off with the camera announcements. Samsung announced its new NX200. It has a 20.3 megapixel interchangeable lens and can shoot HD video at a resolution of 1920×1080 at 30 frames per second. Alonside the NX200, were two other cameras. They were the MV800 and the WB750 camera.

Samsung will also be updating it’s smart TVs with 3D videos from YouTube. With the lack of available 3D content and the fact that you may need 3D glasses just to watch 3D TV, this should be welcome news. The smart TV will also have the ability to run Apps. perhaps we might see a Samsung smart TV that plays Angry Birds.

On the mobile computing side, Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab 7.7(which is a tablet computer) and the Note(a halfway house between the smartphone and the tablet). Last but not least was the the Wave 3

Samsung also introduced two new lines of the 7 series and 9 series laptops.

MP for Tottenham calls for a ban on Blackberry devices

For those of you who have not been keeping up with the events that have been happening here in the UK, there has been a lot of rioting. This rioting has followed a shooting of a man known as Mark Duggan. He was shot by the police for no apparent reason. Since this event, the riots have been spreading all accross London and into other parts of the UK.

However, the Minister of Tottenham here in the UK has called for all blackberry devices to be banned(including the BlackBerry Messenger). In fact, the minister of Tottenham has put out the following statement on Twitter: “Immediate action needed. LDNers cannot have another evening like last night tonight. BBM clearly helping rioters outfox Police. Suspend it”.

he then went on to say: “This is one of the reasons why unsophisticated criminals are outfoxing an otherwise sophisticated police force.”

“BBM is different as it is encrypted and police can’t access it.”

On a side-note, a hacker group has hacked the Inside BlackBerry Blog and posted the following statement: “You Will _NOT_ assist the UK Police because if u do innocent members of the public who were at the wrong place at the wrong time and owned a blackberry will get charged for no reason at all.

If you do assist the police by giving them chat logs, gps locations, customer information & access to peoples BlackBerryMessengers you will regret it, we have access to your database which includes your employees information; e.g – Addresses, Names, Phone Numbers etc. – now if u assist the police, we _WILL_ make this information public and pass it onto rioters.”

I personally think that to ban the use of BlackBerry would be a bad idea. There might be businesses out there who rely on BlackBerry for their operations and have BlackBerry devices as their only phones. Additionally, there may be other people using blackberry for other such legitimate reasons.
