It’s another week down and it’s time for another edition of Adi’s Week in Tech News. This week has been quite a big week as many product announcements took place.
Apple were first up this week. They announced a new 13″ MacBook Pro with retina display, a fourth generation iPad, a Mac Mini, a Mini iPad and a new iMac with a screen that has a display which is 5mm thin around the edge!
Microsoft held a couple of press events in order to announce the launch of Windows 8 and Microsoft Surface. Both Windows 8 and Microsoft’s Surface are available for purchase right now.
A vulnerability in US domestic airline boarding pass barcodes could allow travellers to bring unauthorised items on board, says a security expert. The codes reveal what kind of airport checks a passenger will face and can be read by smartphones, he says. It could undermine the US’s PreCheck system which randomly decides which frequent fliers can skip part of the pre-boarding security process. The barcodes could allow passengers to work out if they had been picked.
Nintendo has confirmed that it will lose money on every sale of its Wii U console at launch. The Japanese firm’s president revealed the news after the firm cut its profit forecast. Satoru Iwata(president of Nintendo) said that they had to ”book a loss on the hardware, which is currently in production and will be sold below cost.”
