The folks over at the Chronic Dev Team and the iPhone Dev Team never cease to amaze me. Even when there is no hope of finding an untethered jailbreak, they always find a way to bring one to the masses. In this case the iOS hacker known as pod2g had previously found an exploit for iOS 5.0.1. From this exploit, I am pleased to report that the folks over at the iPhone Dev Team and the Chronic Dev Team have managed to take that exploit and have released their respective tools for the untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1. This will work on the following iOS devices:
- The original iPad
- iPhone 4
- The third generation iPod Touch
- The fourth generation iPod Touch
- iPhone 3GS
