As I previously announced, iOS 6 is ready for download. There are a tonne of great features available such as passbook, facebook integration, new things that siri can do to name a few. However, I have decided not to upgrade to iOS 6(the latest software for iPhones, iPod Touches and iPads). So why have did I decide to skip the upgrade?
First of all, Apple’s maps application on iOS 6: They have changed out the maps from Google’s maps to their own maps app. To make matters worse, it’s inaccurate and I have some proof. When you search for London it takes you to the London in Canada instead of London here in the UK. What would have made this app a lot better is if they gave you a choice between Google maps and the new mapping solution.
The second thing about iOS 6 is passbook. Essentially, you would be able to use your phone as a cinema ticket or a ticket for a musical concert. Although this could be useful, it’s not a feature that I would be likely to use.
The third thing that I want to talk about is facebook integration. Don’t get me wrong, it’s good that we can sign into facebook once and share from anywhere. However, this feature actually changes all of the email addresses in your personal address book to @facebook.com addresses. I am fine with the email addresses in there. That being said, you don’t have to use this feature if you don’t want it.
Those are just a few reasons as to why I am not going to upgrade. After all, everyone has the right to choose if they want the software update and I have chosen not to upgrade. That being said, there is a lot of stuff in there that I don’t need and I don’t see myself using. What about you? have you upgraded to iOS 6? If so, leave a comment letting me know what you think of it.
