Yes folks, Apple held a product announcement earlier today from the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. There were a tonne of announcements in the docket today so let’s get straight to it.
The first item on the docket was the new iPhone. As many people predicted, it’s called the iPhone 5. It sports a 4″ screen which gives you 5 rows of icons(20 icons per homescreen page total) and a screen resolution of 1136×640. On the dimensions side, it’s 7.6mm thin and 112 grams. As highly rumoured, Apple has done away with the old dock connector you have seen on many iPods, iPhones and iPads for a long time. Long story short, they have replaced it with a 9-pin connector known as the “lightning” connector.
It will have an A6 CPU and claims to be twice as fast as some of the older CPUs. The music app will load up twice as fast as the older iPhone. The camera also got updated too, you get an 8MP camera with the ability to shoot video in HD 1080p(full HD or 1920×1080 pixels). On the battery side, you get 8 hours of 3G talk time, 225 hours of standby time, 10 hours of video playback or 40 hours of music playback(that’s audiobooks as well). The iPhone 5 will be available for purchase on 21st September and it will available for pre-order within two days from now. Prices will start from £529 if you want to buy the phone outright. Not only will it be available in black and white, but you will also be able to get it in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB variants.
