Although the iPhone 5 was the main star of the show at today’s iPhone 5 event in San Francisco, there were some other items on the docket at the event. Let’s start off with the iPod Touch.
It has the same display as the iPhone 5(4″ retina display) with a screen resolution of 1136×640. This basically means you will be able to fit up to 20 apps on one homescreen page instead of 16. It weighs in at about 88 grams and is only 6.1mm thick. On the back you have another camera and a nodule where you can attach the wrist strap(sold separately). On the inside you have an A5 CPU which twice as fast as the old A4 CPU. You also have an antenna for Wi-Fi(802.11a/b/g/n), and bluetooth 4.0.
On the back, you have a 5-megapixel iSight camera capable of Full HD(HD 1080p) video recording and an LED flash. You can also do panorama photos with that camera. As I mentioned earlier, you have a front-facing FaceTime camera capable of 720p HD.
In terms of battery life, you will be able to get up to 40 hours of music playback time and up to 8 hours of video playback time.
The iPod Touch will come in 5 colours: black, red, yellow, blue and white. Not only that but it will also come in a 32GB version and a 64GB version. The new iPod touch will be available in October with a price of £249 for the 32GB version or £329 for the 64GB version. By the way they will also be keeping the 4th Generation iPod touch for those who want it.
The final release product on the docket for the event was a new iPod Nano. It has a 2.5″ multi-touch screen, 31 grams and 5.4mm thick. On the inside, you have a built-in FM radio, Nike+ support and an accelerometer.
On the battery life, you will be able to get up to 30 hours of music playback time or 3.5 hours of video playback time(yes folks, you can play video on it).
The new iPod Nano will come in a 16GB version and will come in a choice of yellow, pink, green, blue, black, white and a “Product RED” version. The new iPod Nano will cost £129 and will be available from October(just around the corner.
On a side note, iOS 6 will be released on the 19th September(5 days from now) and will work on the iPhone 3GS, 4, 4S and iPhone 5. It will also work on the 4th and 5th Generation iPod Touches as well as the iPad 2 and the iPad 3(AKA The New iPad).
