The refreshed iPad was not the only star of the show today as Apple also unveiled the much-anticipated iPad mini. It’s got a 7.9″ retina display which means it has a screen resolution of 1024×768. You have the same 10-hour battery life as the new iPad, a HD 720p Facetime camera on the front and a 5MP iSight camera on the back which can record full HD(1080p) videos. In terms of the CPU, you have a dual-core A5 CPU(same one as in the iPad 2). On the wireless connectivity side, you have Wi-Fi, LTE and 3G cellular connectivity if you need it. Instead of the Micro-SIM the cellular connection uses the Nano-SIM. Apple has also gone with the lightning connector that has now been rolled out across the entire range of iOS devices except some older devices(such as the iPhone 4S, the iPad 2 or the 4th Generation iPod Touch. By the way, iOS 6 will also come pre-installed on this device.
So what about pricing? Well, you will be able to get it in both black and white. Starting with the Wi-Fi edition, you will be able to get the 16GB version for £269, the 32GB version for £349 or the 64GB for £429.
What if you want the Wi-Fi and Cellular, well you will be able to get the 16GB version of the model for £369, the 32GB version for £449 and the 64GB version for £529.
The iPad mini will be available for pre-order on October 26th 2012(this friday) and you will be released on 2nd November 2012(1 week after pre-orders begin).
I think it’s quite interesting that Apple bought out an iPad Mini. That being said, it’s a recession and I think that this new iPad Mini will mean that a lot more people will be able to afford an iPad.
